Welcoming Fire Outreach Program
Supporting Indigenous women on their journey toward healing and stability.
Through the Welcoming Fire Program, our Outreach Worker assists past clients of the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, self-referred clients, and clients referred by other community resources.
NOTE: We are currently in need of donations! We are looking for household items, winter clothing, and seasonal items.
Objectives
Follow-up services for Indigenous women at risk of homelessness.
Bi-weekly workshops on diverse and meaningful topics.
Access to traditional First Nations healing practices.
Tools to address root challenges and promote emotional stability for individuals and families.
Services
Respond to emergency situations and provide crisis interventions.
Conduct home visits and offer active listening.
Escort clients to social or health services to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps.
Advocate for clients to prevent eviction or assist with relocation.
Support applications for social aid, child tax credits, and low-income housing.
Offer resources and referrals.
Facilitate bi-weekly workshops for community and personal growth.
